Taught my Gran
My Gran is 92 this year and she is texting like a proit took me about 5 weeks to teach it to her but now she has it.
When she had her first lesson she typed in numbers instead of letters! people kept on getting texts say stuff like 4563g2673hy4789 and more like that.
She is sometimes even better than me!! 30 June 2010, 05:22

wooooo granny grannyOAP Text Speak
I did this a few years ago over the summer holidays, it took me about the whole summer to finally get my Gran onto a mobile phone! And now she loves it, her language is minimal and text messages generally consist of text speak aka, "k" for ok, "y?" for why? and "u" for you...which makes me laugh as she's always complaining about the language us "young people" use, and how vocabulary nowadays isn't as well used as back in her day :) 10 March 2010, 11:41Every time I visit

It allways stressed me out to see my nan try to text someone, her eyes right up close to the screen touching each button really slow. If i sent her a text it would be at least an hour before i got one back. She allways used to ask me what GR8 or LOL or even KL means whenever she recieved a text. So i decided to take action. I tort my nan how to text and even brought her a dictionary with all the lingo definitions inside. now she can text really fast and needs no help at all shes still a little slow but no way near as slow as B4.14 October 2009, 09:36

One day I asked my grandma about her wedding day. It was just amazing hearing what things were like back then, how she felt like, what she remembered the best... I recommend to everyone to take the time to listen to their granparents talk about their lives. 17 November 2008, 17:15
I'm an Octogenarian Grandma who can text!!!
On seeing the book "Teach your Granny to Text" at Sainsbury's I felt impelled to write this message as I have been texting for several years-am also Computer literate, have a digital camera and print my own photos. My Grand daughter when at Uni, told her colleagues who queried " How can your Nan text you , as she is old ?!!" Her reply " Well - she has a brain, can use her fingers, knows the alphabet and can spell" I am in my 87th year - have Orange Broadband plus live box phone, belong to several forums on the internet, Email , Google, order shopping on line, blog, have Google earth etc;I could go on all day listing my interests Anyone can do it if only they put "1 can't" in their pockets and take out "I can " So come on Grans and Grandpas - join the Silver Surfers It's never too late to start 09 October 2008, 04:58
